The Rev. F. Sampson has arranged to (.lose li is ministry in the Baptist Church, Whangarei, cm the last Sunday in .July He hopes to leave immediately aiforwards for Invercargill, wheref he is due to commence his ministry itfthe Esk Street Church 011 the first Sunday in August.
On their arrival from Auckland yesterday afternoon Miss Edna Thomas, the distinguished singer, and her party were »iet by several Whangarei people«»d driven to the Commercial Hotel, where they are staying. The visitors and about a dozen representative citizens were then entertained to afternoon tea by Mr and Mrs Wilde, host | and hostess of the Commercial, whose! kindly attention made the gathering a very p'easant one. As president off
the Waiata Society Mr R. G. Hosking offered a warn welcome to Miss Thomas* and her companions, this being acknowledged by Miss Thomas, who! gracefully expressed her pleasure at! being able to come to Whangarei. Today the visitors have been the gueatg of the Rotary Club at luncheon. •
