MARUA NEWS.
HALL COMMITTEE SOCIAL. A very pleasant evening which was spent in the Marua Hall last Friday was arranged by the Hall Committee. The weather was boisterous, but it did not prevent a good crowd from turning up, and Whangarei, | Hikurangi and Whananaki were well represented. The music was supplied by a Hikurangi band, comprising Mrs. T. Cunningham (violin), Messrs J. Cunningham (cornet), C. Cunningham (baritone) Munroe (d. bass) and (piano). Needless to say it was greatly appreciated. Extras were playedby Mesdames Swinbotirn and Hirtzel. Mr. Swinbourn, chairman of committee, was .a, capable- M.C. The supper was supplied by ladies of Marua and was quite enjoyed by all present. GENERAL AND PERSONAL. ' The weather this last few days has improved and on Wednesday morning thg district was ;visited by a very heavy frost. The roads are beginning to dry up 1 somewhat, but many of the unmetalled roads are in a very muddy state. Mrs. O'Donald from Awapuna has been staying with her brother, Mr. W. J. Brown.
