DUE TO BLOCKED MAIN. WATER SUPPLY CONTAMINATED. AUCKLAND, This Day. Dr G. Frengley, who returned from j Suva this morning with four nursing j sisters, states that the typhoid epidemic was traced to a blocked water main, which carried typhoid germs into the domain and contaminated the town j water supply. About 300 people, including 120 Europeans, caught the fever. The deaths included seven white people, including one or two New Zeaianders. Suva was now quite safe for tourists. When Dr Frengley left there were no new cases except one or two Indians who were catching the fever from relatives.—Press Assn.
