CHIEFS AND BRAVES. WELCOME MAORI MEMBERS. (Received 12.10 p.m.) VANCOUVER, February 8. The reception to the All Blacks at Calgary had two spectacular features. Before a huge crowd ten chiefs with their squaws and braves, in all the splendour of native raiment, met the Maori members, on the invitation of the Lieutenant-Governor and the Premier, cowboys mingling with the throng. The natives of the two countries studied each other closely for the first time on record. Following on an auto • tour of. th,e city the cowboys staged a unique banquet ball at a leading hotel. The assemblage, in varied garb, was finally startled by the terrifying yell of a veteran cowboy as ho Tode his hor3e straight into the rotunda and gave a real Western whoop-up. i The All Blacks left on Saturday | morning for Banff as two-day guests at the Winter Carnival. —Sun. At Northern Union football England defeated Wales by 27 to 22 at Wbrkington.—Router. URUGUAYAN TEAM'S. TOURS ABROAD. (Received 12.45 p.m.) MONTE VIDEO, February 8. An Uruguayan football team, including eight Olympic champions, sailed today on a live months' European tour, playing the first game at Marseilles.
