• The s.s. Paroto camo in to Tutnkaka jtm Saturday with stores for the settlers. On Saturday the scow Herald Jeft(for Auckland, loaded with fnvday. "JThe Lena, with Mr Blnckwell's goods .and some firewood, sailed the same day. was a euchre party in the Public? Hall on Saturday evening. The prizes were won by Miss M, Snell, a salad bowl, and Mr J. Laiigman a collar-box. The booby prizes went to Mr J. Wellington, a packet of Epsom salts,-and to Mrs Appleby, a knob of blue. A most enjoyable Han a? wound up the evening. A meeting of the Racing Club was Tield at Mr H. Snell's residence on Saturday, Mr Hughes presiding. Mr H. English was appointed secretary, Mr H. Snell treasurer, Mr E. Clements starter, and Mr F. T. Marson clerk of scales. The programme with some slight alterations was decided to be ' the same as last year. The officials •were - appointed tQ carry out the meet- : iqg. There was a good attendance aad , everything passed off satisfactorily. j Mrs Hughes and Master Mclntyre ar- : lived on Saturday; also Mr and Mrs McLean and the school teacher for Tutukaka. Mr Blackwell left for lA.uckland. Mr Stewart and another telegraph linesman arrived on Monday to fix up the line. They left again on Wednesday. They stayed at Mr Brown's. The weather has been fine, though showery. On Sunday night there was a heavy downpour accompanied bv thunder and lightning. The wind has i>een all round the compass, blowing hard at times with intervals quite calm —altogether quite springlike. Miss Forrester returned and Miss Mclntyre left for Whangarei, also Mr I D. Clements. I
