ARMED PATROL
PROTECTINGi PUBLIC. AGAINST LAWLESSNESS. EX-OFFICER CONTINGENT. (Received 11.15 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. To combat the spread of lawlessness a Melbourne suburban protective patrol, comprising ex-officers of the Australian Imperial Force, has , been formed. It has been promised the cooperation of the Commissioner of Police.
Householders will have protection of the patrol on payment of three shillings weekly. The patrol men will be armed. They will escort citizens to their homes at night and bring women from the theatres.—A. and N.Z.
