TABLE TENNIS.
TITOKI TOURNAMENT
The third table tennis tournament of the season was held in Titoki on Wednesday evening. The pothering was a record one for numbers, showing tho keen interest that has developed around this enjoyable winter game. The evening'was opened with the junior match—Club's B team v. Ladies' B. team. There was distinct promise of good players in the making, especially hi the ladies' team. The scores are as follows:—G. Webb v. A. Alexander, 3—o; J. Alexander v. W. Hilton, 2—l; R. Alexander v. W. Webb, 2—l; E. Braun v. H. Smith, 2—l; totals, 9, 3. The Men's Club A team then played the married men. The contests were keen and loudly applauded, the club winning by 14 games to 7. The following are the scores, the first name in each case being that of the club's representative: —L. Downs v. F. PurvjS) J —2; R. Watson v. H. Hunt, 2 —l; H. Smith v. S. Houghton, 3 —o; W. McLeod v. J. Elston, 2—l; J. Downs v. C. Fraser, 2—l; G. Alexander v. "R. Re i c ] i 9—l; K. Pepporell v. F. Smith, I 2—l.
After supper Mr R. A. Watson congratulated the teams, thanked them on behalf of.the club, and then called for cheers for the guests of the evening, which were right lustily given.
