SOUTH AFRICAN CRICKETERS. (Received Noon.) LONDON, August 22. The Minor Counties defeated the South African cricket team by 25 rims, the final position reading: — Counties, Ist innings 196 Counties, 2nd innings 272 468 South Africa, Ist innings 159 South Africa, 2nd innings 294 443 In the visitors' second innings Taylor scored 47 and Nourse 91. Fallon took five wickets for 103 runs and Beardmore four for 53. Much rain fell over-night and the wicket was soft. It was not improved by two rain stoppages to-day. Nourse and Taylor made a plucky effort to retrieve the game and put on 100 runs in 110 minutes. Nourse compiled a masterly 91 in 187 minutes. Beardmore, a left-hander, took the last four wickets for four runs. —Reuter.
