! AWAITING LIBERAL SEARCH. ELEMENT OF MYSTERY. (Special to "Northern Advocate.") WELLINGTON, This Day. Reference to the reason why the ( National Government came to an end i and the promise of revelations when the time comes for the Liberal Party to search the "pigeon-holes" was made by Mr S. G. Smith (Taranaki) the House last night. He said it was en rcord that Sir Joseph Ward as Finance Minister in the National Government had disagreed with utilising surpluses to purchase land for soldiers because it would result in a boom.
Mr J. A. Nash: "Is that all?" Mr Smith: "When the next Government takes possession of the treasury benches—A Voice: 'When!'—and the pigeon-holes have been searched, the mess cleared up for the first time for many years and the people of this country get the truth* about our financial position, the honourable gentlemen won't say: 'Is that all?' "
