MANAIA RIDING.

RATEPAYERS' COMMITTEE MEETING. A meeting of the Manaia Ratepayers' Committee was held in the County; Chambers yesterday afternoon, the following being present:—Messrs Alex, Clark, D. Mcßae, J. Beasley, A. Rob* inson and F. W. Telfer, with Cr L. A. Johnson in the chair. The chairman read' over the estimates for the year ending March 31, 1925. The total riding debit at April I, 1924, was £276 5/9, which was made up of £103 2/10 over-expended in th£ riding and £173 2/11 as the riding share of general expenditure underestimated for 1923-1924. The estimated amount available foaf 1924-1925 was £1409 9/, less £173 2/11 as the riding's share of general expenditure, leaving £1236 6/1. On the motion of Messrs Clark and Robinson this amount was allotted as follows: — No 1, Whareora. —Allotment 1924-25, £261; credit, 1923-24, £32 14/; miscellaneous credits, £10; net amount available £303 14/. No. 2, Rukuwai.—£Bl and Taranui bridge £175; credit, £3 2/7; other credits, £12; net, £271 2/7. No. 3, Owhiwa.—£72; credit, £21 4/8;: other credits, £26 10/; net, £119 14/8. No. 4, Whangarei-Parua.—£2Bß; dr. r <317 15/2; various credits, £5; net, £275 4/11. No. 5, Waikare.—£99; cr., £11 9/5;: net, £.110 0/5. No. 6, Heads. —£99 and Ody's Road' £75; dr., £108 5/7; net, £65 14/5. , General. —Allotment, £S6 6/1; dr.,. £45 12/10; net, £40 13/3. Grand Totals.—Allotment, £1236 6/1; j dr., £103 2/10; various crcdits, £ss' 10/: net available, £1186 13/3. ' General discussion then took place in ! reference to anticipated grants, flood damage, etc., and members dealt with, the requirements of their respectiveareas. Before the conclusion of the meeting Mr Alex. Clark proposed as follows, seconded by Mr D. Mcßae:— "That this meeting of the Manaia Riding Committee desires to express to Councillor Johnson its sincere appreciation of the able and impartial manner in which he is conducting the riding affairs, and also to express itA entire confidence in Councillor JohnSOn as iManaia Riding representative.'' —The* motion was carried unanimously.
