The big football match between Ponsonby and the Whang:irei representatives on July 3 will attract a big crowd, especially if the afternoon be fine. A curtain-raiser between the primary school representatives and a team from tTie High School wil) also be played. The big fixture will be a splendid try-out for the local representatives, as the Ponsonby team is so far leading for the Auckland championship. The charges for admission have been fixed at a low figure and the whole of the net proceeds will be devoted to the Q»»een Carnival Fund. The Boxing Carnival which is being arranged by the Municipal Band augurs well and great interest is being shown by local fans and competition who are taking the matter »p with much enthusiasm. It is reported that the entries are coming in well, but the maximum assistance possible will be required in order to make the carnival second to none. Mr W. Palmer, the noted boxing instructor, has taken charge of matters pertaining to the ring events, and his thoroughness and genuineness in affairs controlled under the Marquis of Queensberrv rules undoubtedly puts the stamp of sincerity on the effort to give the public a real good night at the ringside. Those wishing to take part in any of the classes set down for decision should communicate with either Mr Palmer or Mr W. L. Hopewell.
