The railway guard on the Mt. Somers branch! line has been notified that he has been fined £2 and transferred to Christchureh "as punishment for failing to comply with the regulation to test the Westirighouse brake/'
This is a' sequel to the, derailment on June 15, in' which <50 lives, including ... chijdren, were imperilled. The settlers are now petitioning for a commission of inquiry, alleging that tho derailment was owing to serious .lisrepair of the line.—Pres3 Assn.
