ROTORUA, This Day.
About 3 o'clock this morning a fire
occurred in a block in Tutanekai Street owned by T.Woolliaxns. It gutted the shops of W. Hardie, draper, Mrs Galbraith, confectioner, and also Hardie's bulk store. The fire also damaged the
shops of R. G. Marsh, photographer,
and E. T. Hands, bookseller. It had - a strong hold when discovered. It is impossible to tell where or how the fire originated. and Galbraith's stocks werp destroyed and those of Marsh and Harris greatly dam-
aged. Woolliams had insured in the
United for. £1400, Harris in the 4 United far £1500, Hardie in the Victoria for and Marsh in the Northern fpr £250, Mrs Galbraith had no insur* ance. The brigade did, .exceedingly, well to save the block, as a strong wnd was blowing.—Press Assn.
