YOUNG WOMAN S"JFIX>CATED. J RESCUE EFORTS FUTILE. WELLINGTON, This Day. About 7.30 last night smoke was seen issuing from the roof of the Y.WjC.A. hostel in Mac Donald Crescent by some young men. Almost uaj ".mediately the screaks of a woman •were heard coming from the affected part. The young men entered the building, rushed upstairs and called out, but received no response, though screams continued. Two of the young men cjawled through the smoke, but were tnwible to enter the room from where the screams proceeded, •owing to the flames. When the fire -teas subdued the body of a young woman named Miss Goury, 23 years of Age f was recovered. She had evidently &ied of suffocation, as her clothes were -intact.
