SOCIAL. In view of the approaching marriage <jf Miss Janet Macrae to Mr Oswald P. Hughes, of Ararua, th.i ladies of -Mareretu held a very pleasr.nt social evening for the two at the school on Friday. The organisers of the affair went to considerable trouble in decorating the school-room with seasonable flowers and fern fronds, resulting in an effect pleasing even to n critical eye. The evening passed in dancing, games, singing and reciting, followed by the presentation of a handsome kitchen ' outfit to the guests on behalf of the residents of the district. Supper closed a. very enjoyable evening. 1 SPORT 3. A meeting of tlio Sports Committee •was held «n Monday night. In order to use up surplus blocks on hand from tho rcccnt sports meeting it was decided to hold a Saturday afternoon chop at on early date. POST OFFICE PROMISED.
