WHANGAKEI PIPE BAND
(To the Editor) Sir, —"John MacDougal," who wrtes to your paper making a nasty and undeserved attack on <the efforts of a few enthusiasts to form a pipe band ia Whangarei, might well have left it alone. If lie is such a good authority on piping, it is rather surprising that he has »ot been more prominent in these matters before this, and at least lent a helping hand instead of ridiculing the efforts of those who do tal:o an interest. The Whangarei Pipe Bind is as good as any in New Zealand for the size of the 4own, and in spite of "John 'MacDougal's" sarcasm will continue io improve and get the support, patronage, and enthusiasm of a large number of the community —people of a different calibre to the said "John MacDougal, people who will help instead of trying to injure a public institution. —I an-, etc., ■ E. MacGr. MacKAY, Pipe Major. COUNTY ADMINISTRATION (To the Editor) Sir, —If your correspondent of the 20th inst., who signs himself "Another Ratepayer," will only make public his name, I shall be only too pleased to reply to his criticism. My answer mny enlighten him and be of interest to tee public generally. But I cannot possibly attempt to reply to criticism offerel by people who are not prepared to append their names. —I am, etc., W. JONES., Countv Chairman.
