The Horowhenua County Council, at its last meeting at Levin, spent the greater part of its time discussing the financial position in ■ committee, and on resuming it was reported that it had been resolved to give the whole of the outside staff one month's noticc of dismissal. It was also decided to advertise for applications for a new staff on a lower basis of wages, the foreman to receive 14s per day, the carpenter 18s, and the roadmen 12s fid per day.
