NEW CLUB FORMED.

A MUNIFICENT GIFT,

Last evening a meeting of cricketers who have played the game on Thursday afternoons this season met in Mr !'. Harris' club-room to arrange the formation of a new club for Thursday players. Mr S. N. Simons was appointed chairman and he presided over an attendance of the following:—Messrs S. Humphrey, E. Timewell, H. Hutton, R. Timewell, B. Mayes, G. Patterson, J. Inglis, W Abbott, A. Foster, C. Williams, A. Drever, G. Lamb, H. Patterson, A. L. Foster, G. Larking and J. lvitt.

At the chairman's iavitatioa Mr Larking, as one of the convenors explained the object of the meeting ana then announced that Mr W. TJ. Timewell had promised to do.rr.e a eorapl-te set of cricket, gear to Thursday afternoon players.This announcement was received with enthusiastic applause and a hearty vote of thanks to the donor for his generosity was carried by acclamation. . It was decided that a new club be formed and that it be called the Whangarei Thursday Cricket Club, to be affiliated to the Whangarei Cricket Association. » OFFICERS. The election of officers resulted as fo'.lews: —Patron, Mr F. Mander, M.P.; president, Mr W. U. Timewell; vicepresidents, Messrs. M. P. King, S. N. Simons, Alex D. Jack, D. A. McLean, and C. H. Cliisscll; secretary, Mr J. Kitt; treasurer, Mr J. Inglis; committee, Messrs. G. Patterson, G. Larking, M. P. Atkin, G. Woods, D. Smeal, E. Timewell and G. Lamb. A selection committee was also formed, Messrs. G. Larking, S. N. Simons, and J. Kitt being appointed. Mr G. Tupp was appointed custodian of the gear. The meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to the chairman.
