KARITANE WRECK.
# TO BE AUCTIONED. SALVAGING TOO COSTLY. (Received 11 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. Owing to the expense involved the Union Company has decided not to attempt to salvage the Karitane, which will be sold by auction. Probably an effort will be made by the underwriters to salvage the valuable cargo of copper in the steamer's hold. Divers will be required for the work.—A. and N.Z.
