One of the largest shipments of wool taken from the port of Otago for some time past is that lifted this week at Port Chalmers by the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company's new steamer Mate.kara (states the Dunedin "Stair"). Altogether the vessel is taking about 8000 bales for London for the Imperial Government, and also a large quantity of cheese, butter, tallow, skins, and other Zealand products.
An article of great interest was discovered at a recent auction sale in Danedin (states the Dunedin "Star"). It was the clock brought out to New Zealand in the ship John Wickliffe by the late Captain Cargill—a double-wheeled French clock enclosed in a beautifu'iy carved mahogany frame. The clock has passed through several hands. It 'ns cleaned several times by srti old Dunedin watchmaker, who had affixed his label, the last occasion being in 1910. The dealer 1 who bought the clock had it thoroughly cleaned, and called upon an art connoisseur, who paid him a high price for the coveted article, which will he forwarded to London for Christie's famous auction rooms. A very favourable season for production is .being experienced in the dairy industry in Taranaki, says tihe "Daily News." During the period September 1 to November 23 the produce received at the Taranaki Producers' Stores, Moturoa, represents an increase of 1,000.G90!bs (|f butter-fat, compared with the same period last year. The total in 1920, was 3,931,9851b5, and tihis year, 4.968,5701b5, representing an increase of 26 per cent. The amount of butter received represents an increase of 37,000 boxes, while cheese has decreased 12,800 'crates in the period referred to. Mr C. Robertson, chief grader at the Moturoa stores, stated that production had fallen off duriifg the war and for the three months, Sep-tember-November, last year's figure* showed that the output was still under the 1914 level. This year, however, an increase of 14 per cent, over 1914 has been recorded so, far.
