CIVIC REFORMERS DOMINANT.

The -city elections resulted 'in the de* feat. of Labour. Exceptional interest wa3 taken and the poll, -which wns very heavy, closed at 7.30. The countingwas rot linished till very late. Labour lost four seats unci the Independents » two, which the Civic Reformers gained, giving the following position:— Civic Reformers 16 Labour 10 Previously the Council consisted of 13 Labour members, 11 Civic Reformers, and two Independents.
The Lord Mayor, Mr Lambert, squeezed in by two votes. Mr, E. D. Meagher was defeated.—A. and, N.Z.
