CITIZENS' GIFT

TO MR AND MRS DENT The illuminated address which the Whangarei citizens presented to Mr U-.d Mr s J. S. Dent on Wednesday i.. in rather novel form. The address itself artistically ornamented by Mr R. H. Allan, is surmounted by a. panoramic photograph of Whangarei, and the signatures at the bottom are flanked by pictures of the Town Hail and of the recent reception of Lord Jellicoe in the Triangle. The address is handsomely mounted, and framed in a 4-inch oak frame. It is now on view in Mr R. G. Hosking's window in Cameron Street. The text of the address, which bear s the signatures of the members of the two committees, i s as follows: "To Mr and Mr s J- S. Dent — "Dear Sir and Madam,—On the occasion of Mr Dent's retirement from the Mayoralty of Whangarei the citizens of the borough desire to ' offer ycu this address as a mark of the.'.r appreciation and esteem . Mr Dent gives up the office of Chief Magistrate of the borough after eighteen years , service, fourteen years a 3 Councillor and four years as Mayor.
