Sir Downey, inspector of mines, has returned from' an inspection of a new quartz reef found four miles from Maruia road and 18 miles from Eeei*
von.. He confirms the repcilS concerning -the richness of the quart/, which is in good solid cumin, and estimates that the quart?; will produce lOOoxs to the ton. A reef sft to 7ft wide was opened up for two chains and two other reefs of 34ft and 3ft Gin were found a little distance away. Thoy are not so rich, but are highly payable.
