Messrs W. A. Carruth and H. W. Crawford, retiring members of' the Whangarei High School Board of Governors, have been re>-appointed to. membership as representatives of the Auckland Education Board. Mr Hector R. Malcolm, a, son of Mrs Malcolm of Kamo, hias completed his solicitor's examination and is now fully qualified. His final section was Property 11. and Evidence. Mr H. A. Steadman qualified at the same examinations in March last, and Mr H. G. Carruth also passed his section. Ten applications for the< position of headmaster at the Whangarei; Primary school were sent in' to the Board of Education, -and fter. du3 consideration it was decided to.- consult the School Committee as to the proposed appointment of. Mr E*;A. Power, who is now stationed at Tβ Kuiti. .■■•;■■-■■■■: 4 * Mr J. Scott of Taihape, who judged the "recent sheep dog trial events, stated to a representative of this paper that the idea of running sheep, dog trials is to educate and, encour-' age shepherds to handle sheepinia' proper, and systematic manner*;':. The main object in handling sheep is to take them to their destination on the shortest route and without knocking them about. Sheep should be brought: along > quietly and not hurried nor handled roughly, and in training., their dogs shepherds should keep > these points always in mind. ..■,..-
