WAIKIEKIE SOCIAL SCHEME
Forty persons attended a meeting held under Y.M.C.A. auspices in the Waikiekic. Hr.il last Friday night, Mr Aibertson presiding. Mr Waine, secretary of the newly instituted branch explained in connection with l ho posed hut that only nominal charger, would be made for -billiards and light refreshment.?. The Public Work- Department would provide? the timber, but the labour for construction of the building mint be found by the organisation. Thereupon twenty men in the room proffered their services gratis in the form of a working bee, which commenced operations on Saturday and made good progress under the direction of Messrs Bird and E. Carter. Much of the equipment i s now en route 'between Oakleigh and Waioiira and the secretary hopes to have everything in running order next week.
