SYDNEY, This Day,
The cricket match New South Wales Golts against the Englishmen commenced on Number 2 ground on a soft, tricky wicket in favour of the bowlers. Douglas won the toss and sent the Colts in, the bowlers using sawdust to keep their footing. The Colts' first innings only produced 84, Waddington taking 8 wickets for 33. In the first innings England has 2 wickets down for 422. Hobbs scored 64, Hendren is not out 200 and Hearne not out 125. When the Englishmen batted the wicket had .greatly improved. Hot weather with driving winds has now set in and it is expected that the first wicket will be in first-class condition for Friday.—A. and N.Z.
