A NOTABLE DECLINE

The decline in the hides and leather market which has been in operation for some months, continues. Since April light calf hides have declined 74 per cent., and other sorts from 27 to 55 per cent. Leather prices have fallen from 16 to 19 per cent. This week's rabbit skin sales showed a decline. Super winter sorts langed from 3d to Is 7d, and second v/inters from 9d to 2s Id per lb, according to quality. AUCKLAND, This Day. There was a drop in values at this week's Auckland hide sales, prices declining from Id to Id .per lb, as compared with recent rates. Best quality hides realised from 13id to I4d per lb, medium from 12d to 12id. light lOd to lid. There "was no deand for damaged hides. Practically all the lines offered wer e passed in at nominal figures, but sales were subsquently effected at the rates mentioned.
