WELLINGTON, This Day.-
The Prime Minister, asked if he did not think that the time had arrived to establish State-owned woollen and worsted mills- in Now Zealand, said that tho capital of the country was required at present for more ugrent purposes. He added that it was just as well to remember that the experience of State-owned enterprises in Australia had not been uniformly successful. INVALIDS IN TRAINS. Mr G. Hunter (Waipawa) suggested in the House last night that the Government should make better provision for the comfort and convenience of invalids travelling by train. Mr Massey replied that as far as possible the Department provided for the comfort and convenience of invalids. Special care could be obtained where necessary by paying twelve first-class fares. TIME INOPPORTUNE. Mr Massey states that the Goyernrn.en.ti desires to assist the smaller Harbour Boards by importing a Government dredge, but the present time is not considered to be opportune owing to the high cost of materials. SCHOOL REQUISITES. The Minister of Education states that Ms Department has considered the establishment of a central store in. Wellington for the supply of school stationeiy and requisites, but the present condition of the markets makes the time inopportune for any scheme of the kind. He will discuss the matter with the Education Boards during the recess. SCHOLARSHIP VALUES. The question of increasing all scholarships up to their pre-war value has been under consideration, but owing to the large expenditure involved the matter has , been held over for another year.
