Sir. —"Dulce est desipere in loci." Evidently, however, a parson is only one degree less dangerous to joke with than a king. Are Mr McFadyen's eyes so fast set on the next world that he fails to see a laugh in this? Or has he lost his salt box? But, who am I, that I should interfere with the eccentricities ]pf the church? Let m e hasten to apologise. I regret exceedingly that Mr McFadyen's feelings should have been hurt by my harmless joke. May his lamps, in the future, receive the blessing of the widow's cruse.
