CHURCH REVIVAL.
THE POPULAR SOIREE
An effort to bring the church people of Whangarei into closer social harmony is being made during the forthcoming week,
The one-time popular soiree is be ing revived, with the hope that this form of entertainment will assist in reviving the Christian spirit between churches and individuals, along the lines of tolerance, and for the furtherance of what, after all, is the great aim of Christ's Kingdom— fellowship between man and man. iSigns of this are already apparent, and took practical shape last Sunday, when a combined service followed by tea was enjoyed by quite a number of people. The movement this week is not confined to any one denomination, for the hand of welcome is to be outstretched to all who accept the invitation to be present.
It may be of interest to state that it is now over 60 years since the Presbyterian Church was established in Whangarei, at a meeting held in the late Mr Rust's residence. Since then it has grown and progressed, and the soiree this week is being organised for the purpose of truly fostering the Christian spirit in Whangarei. This district is to be congratulated "on possessing a community willing to show practical sympathy with modern church ideas, and it is sincerely to be hoped that the soiree will promote the fellowship and Christian spirit for which it is being organised.
