WHANGAREI A. v. KAMO.

At Kensington, yesterday afternoon, Whangarei A. played Kamo, when an interesting game was witnessed. In the first half most of the attacking was done by Whangarei, but Kamo showed excellent defence, the tackling being very good. The tendency to kick always to tho field instead of using the touch line for defenco should be avoided. Tho Whangarei hall' back, Blakey, made some excellent openings for Ma backs, who showed fair ability in handling a greasy ball. ' They should, however, run straighter and pass sooner; owing to their not backing up for a return pass their attacks were unavailing. Kamo, though lighter than their opponents, played with great dash, frequently turning defence into attack, so that there was no score in the first quarter. The second quarter opened with Whaugarei keenly striving to break through, and a kick at goal near quarter-way by Goodley brought Whangarei's first score. In the thid quarter, by fast following up. Dempster carried the ball over Kamo's line and scored. Kamo played on stubbornly, Thornurn, Hoey and Batty putting in useful work for their side. The final whisilc found them attacking* not far from Whangarei's line —Whangarei 6, Kamo 0. For the visitors Flicker, Dempster, Goodley and Harrison were prominent. The referee, Mr C. Going, ably controlled the game. POSITIONS OF TEAMS. Teams Games W. D. L.
