It was noticed that clinging to the end of almost every hair of the cow's hide were innumerable lice. An effort was made to roughly estimate their number, and by taking a patch six inches square and counting them and multiplying the remaining space a conservative estimate put the number of lice on the cow in question at the incredible number of half a million. A farmer present made the observation that almost half the cow? in the Wadkato were infetted with lice in the Winter and early Spring, and also that in his opinion this reduced their milk yield at least onequarter.
