AN INFLUENTIAL FUNCTION,

Sir Thomas Mackenzie held a reception in honour of Lord and Lady Jellicoe at the Hotel Victoria to-day. There were no speeches. Three hundred guests were presnt, including Lord Dcsborough, Lord Clifford, Lord Islington, Lord Southwark, the Earl and Countess of Hardwicke, the High Commissioners and Agents-Generals of other Dominions, the Bishop of Auckland (Dr. Averill), and the Dean of Dunedin.—A. and N.Z.
