GERMANY'S ARMY.
REDUCTION ASSERTED.
STRENGTH NOW 200,000.
(Received 8.45 a.m.)
LONDON, June 15
In the House of Commons Mr. Lloyd George made a statement that, on the ]Oth May the Inter-Allied Commission Council estimated the strength of the German army at 270,000, but on the 10th June a Gorman wireless officially stated that tho army had been reduced to 200,000, and the forces in the neutral zone had been reduced to ten battalions, five squadrons, and one battery. This information had not been checked by the Inter-Allied Commission, but there was evidence to show there had been a considerable reduction in tho army during the past, few months. The German Government had issued orders for disbandment and disarmament of unauthorised reserve formations, but v/as still pressing for permission to retain the armed constabulary.—Reuter.
