In his references to the duties of citizenship at the Church of England men's service, held at All Saints' on Sunday afternoon last, atPalmerston North, the vicar (Rev. H. G. Blackiburne) laid special emphasis upr on the necessity for cultivating the true spirit of brotherhood and cooperation amongst the various sections of the community. Loyal support of those who hold office by the votes of the people, he said, is essential to the progress and prosperity of a town or country; but, unless that support is accompanied by care and consideration for the poorer and weaker members of society the community suffers.
