SEVEN-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT.

Nine teams competed in the ladies'* section of the seven-a-side tournament: High School, Tinopai, Maungakarama, Ruakaka and Onerahi, and two each from Old Girls and Kia Toa. .Old Girls met Tinopai in the first game and a goal for the former m the first spell, secured by Miss Wi! kinson, was the only score in a game in which the losers played up well.

Kia Toa A secured the match against High School' by two goals ■to nil, after a lively exhibition.. Two goals'by Miss Sloane for Ruakaka, put the Kia Toa B team out of the running. iMaungakaramea also won. by two goals, shot *by Miss C. Crawford, in their match against Old Girls B. Onerahi made a good showing against Maungakaramea and were beaten by only 1 goal to nil. The losers very nearly scored near the end of the game.

The semi-final between Old Girls A and Maungakaramea was begun in the dark and was not finished when

an accident to Miss O'Carroll caused a delay which made further play impossible. Old Girls had one goal to their creditT The winners of ths match will play Ruakaka in the final.

Seven teams competed in the men's tournament, Mangapai being repre sented by one, and Old Boys, Ruakaka, and Huia by two each.

The first game was between the two Ruakaka teams, and for speed and hard hitting it was an eye-open-er. In the first spell there was no score, Ibut in the second F. Murdoch won the game for the A team with a good goal.

Mangapai beat Old Boys B by 2 goals to nil, one by G. Carter from the edge of the circle being a particularly good effort.

The two Huia teams provided a good game and the A combination won by 2 to nil, H. Hannam's goal being the outcome of a good individual play from mid-tfield.

In the semi-finals Ruakaka were too hot for Huias and a very fast game, in which hard hitting was a feature, ended in Ruakaika winning by 3 goals to nil, the goals being scored by B. Sloane (2), and F. Murdoch.

The final between Ruakaika and>. Mangapai was a rattling game from start to finish and it aroused a lot of enthusiasm. Both teams were very fit and the pace was a stinger.
