PEACE TREATY.
FORMAL RATIFICATION
ON NEW YEAR'S DAY
LEAGUE OF NATIONS ADVENT,
(Received 9.55 a.m.)
LONDON, Dec. 17
The "Morning Post" says it is practically certain that the Peace Treaty will be formally ratified on the Ist January, automatically creating the League of Nations. This involves a meeting of the Leagu© Council within fifteen days to appoint the Saar Valley Commission. The Council will probably meet in Paris on the 7th or Bth January, Lord Curzon representing Britain, and M. Bourgeois France, China and Japan.
It is unlikely that the United States will be represented.—A. and N.Z.
