WHANGAREI CHAUTAUQUA ASSOCIATION.

COMMITTEE MEETING. A meeting of the committee was held in the consulting rooms of Dr. Frazerhurst. There were present: Dr. Frazerhurst (in the chair), Messrs C. D. McLean, W. Abbott, J. Woo [ley, P. Cutforth, J. Palmer, D. W. Mille? W. J. Hopewell, C. R. Lovatt, A. M, McLeod, F. Higginson, Rev. J; R. Clark and Rev. G. C. Cruickshank. OFFICE ACCOMMODATION. The secretary, M r David W. Miller notified the meeting of the offer of Mr D. Tilly to place the Gas Company's showroom at the disposal of the association for office accommodation, and that Miss D. Price had been acting since Monday. MAYOR'S ASSISTANCE. . The secretary intimated that the visiting organiser; Miss Carson, had i. interviewed the mayor to explain the ideals and objects of the association and that a copy of the constitution and rules had been left for his perusal. Mr Dent had promised to assist in any way possible being assured of _.- the soundness of the scheme. TICKETS. — It was considered by the meeting V that the soldiers undergoing instjtu- ' tional treatment, and particular cases s known to Dr. Frazerhurst might find" concessional tickets acceptable, "but that generally speaking ho difference need be made, the season tickets , being at a very low figure. Questions were raised as to tickets being transferable, etc., and the matter was deferred until inquiries had been made of the Auckland ,, office. HIGH SCHOOL CO-OPERATION. It was felt very desirable that the special help of the masters and pupils should be secured, and the secretary was deputed to interview Mr Lupton explaining the educative side of the scheme, correcting any misapprehension that might exist, and asking for cordial co-operation. ADVERTISING. It was felt that, the programme of the Chautauqua needed to be better known in order to facilitate the sale of season tickets. There were still many in the town unfamiliar with the high class nature of the week's programme, and it was felt that details of the musical artists, and exceptional platform ability of the several speakers would accelerate the provisional arrangements. The secretary was desired to give effect to the com* mittee's emphasis on this point. MARQUEE GROUND. On the proposition of Mr A. M. McLeod seconded by Mr Lovatt it was - decided to accept Mr Marshall's-kind offer of their paddock in Water street for the erection of the large marquee. THANKS. Mr Charles D. McLean moved that Messrs D. Tilly. and Geo. Wood be thanked for their valuable assistance in the direction of office accommodation and loan of typewriter.
