Messrs A. Buckland and Sons, Ltd., report:— At our weekly Westfield fat stock market our yarding of fat cattle totalled 291 head comprising 229 steers, 59 cows and heifers, and 3 bulls. There was a keen demand throughout with values very firm. In some instances last week' 9 prices were slightly exceeded, but generally there was little alteration. Choice ox sold to £3 8s per 1001b, prime ox £3 4s to £3 6s per 100 lb, plain and ordinary £2 10s to £3; cow and heifer beef £2 10s to £3 per 1001b. Steers ranged in price from £14 10s to £30 2s 6d; cows and heifers £7 10s to £16 10s. There was a heavy yarding of sheep, the largest we have had for many weeks. The demand continues strong for all classes, and ruling high prices were easily sustained. Extra heavy prime wethers, 2 16s 6d to £3 0s 3d; heavy prime wethers, £2 10s to £2 15s. There were 435 wethers from different clients, which sold at upwards of £2 Bs. Medium to heavy prime wethers £2 5s to £2 9s; light fat wethers £2 Is 6d to £2 4s 6d; other wethers £1 14s to £2 Is; extra heavy prime ewes £_! 12s to £2 15s; prime ewes £2 4s to £2 10s; lighter fat ewes, £1 17s to £2 2s; other ewes, £1 6s to £1 16s; heavy prime hoggets, £1 14s to £1 16s 6d; other hoggets £1 6s to £1 10s 6d. Spring lambs, the first of the season, made the record average of £1 17s, selling at from £1 14s 6d to £1 19s 6d (four sold). Fat and young calves came forward in record numbers, the major portion being small and fresh-dropped. Runners were lower. Other classes sold at about last week's rates. Runners made from £6 5s to £8 15s, heavy vealers £4 10s to £5 15s, medium £3 2s 6d to £4, lighter £2 4s to £3; small fat calves, 16s to £1 19s; fresh-dropped, 6s to 13s. There was a largo entry of pigs and a strong demand for all classes. Baconers and porkers maintained about last week's values. Stores were in keen demand. Large choppers and heavy baconers £7 15s to £9 3s; light baconers £6 5s to £7 7s; heavy porkers £5 to £6 2s 6d, medium porkers £3 16s to. £4 15s; light porkers £3 3s to £3-15s; well-bred slips, £2 5s to £2 16s; small weaners and suckers, £1 15s to £1 19s. DAIRY AND OTHER STOCK. Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd., report: — At Westfield on Thursday dairy cattle were penned in large numbers. Stores were also penned in increased numbers. The former sold freely, best cows making from £15 10s to £20; second-grade cows £11 10s to £14 10s; others £4 10s to £9 10s; best springing heifers, £12 10s to £16, others £9 to £11; small heifers, *£5 -5s to £8 10s; empty cows, £6 10s to £9 18s; 18-months to two-year-old steers, £6 to £8; heifers, same age, £5 os to £6 15s; calves £1 10s to £4 ss.
