WHANGAREI TROTTING CLUB.
Mr E. G. McMahon presided at the last meeting of the Whangarei Trotting Club. No fewer than 28 new members were elected. The Hon. Gordon Coates and Messrs Vernon Reed and F. Mander wrote expressing thanks for election a s and promising what assistance was required. The Waikato, Wanganui, Otahuhu and Auckland Trotting Clubs seat along wishes for good luck and promise of assistance. The N.Z. Trotting Association wrote with regard to th c name of tre Club, and stated it had been registered as the the "Northland Trotting Club." It was decided that rules for the club be drawn up on the lines of the Wanganui Club, and these rules, together with the name of the Club, will be submitted to a general meeting. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr H. Crawford for the vs c of a room in the "Advocate" buildings for meetings. The secretary was instructed to make application for a totalisator permit. In the event of a permit being withheld it was resolved to hold a one-day meeting in March without" a totalisator. If a permit can be obtained th e meeting will extend over two days, with stakes aggregating about £1000. The president was instructed to interview Mr Marks (secretary of the Auckland Trotting Club), and ask him to assist in drafting a programme for either eventuality.
