BACKING THE CAPITALISTS

WASHINGTON, August 28
According to advices from Tokio, th e Japanese press is nearly unanimous in condemning the American Republican Senators' attitude regarding the Shantung Province. The papers point out that the attitude will serve to disrupt friendly relations between Japan and the United States.
The "Osaka Aaahi" says: "The shadow of the United States can often be seen behind the troubles between Japan and China."
The "Cugai Shoggo" states: "The purpose of the Republicans is to discredit President Wilson and pave the way for American capitalists in China."—A. and N.Z.
