FASHIONS FOR THE FIRST PEACE SPRING.

Th e fashion expert of "Everylady'a Journal" points out, in the Auguet issue just to hand, that, although it is still little P a3t mid " winter, and the weather has been extremely cold in the southern States, the Spring fashions are already making thei r appearance; and there is every indication that the reaction from the styles prevalent in war-time has set in. There will be a marked tendency towards pretty voiles, and gold trimmings promise to be popular. Meantime, coats and skirts are still being worn, straight lines being a distinctive feature. Next month a special Spring Fashion issue is promised.

A typical up-to-date coat a s well as a smart skirt and a dressing-jacket are illustrated on th c cover of the August number of "Everylady's Journal," and free patterns with full directions are enclosed in th e magazine. But whilst the dress and fashion note is dominant, the editor of the bright journal does not neglect the domestic virtues and the intellectual side of life, here are many pages of capital articles on various house-keeping topics—a particularly interesting one giving instructions on growing herbs for profit—a number of excellent short stories, and several special contributions of general interest.

All "Advocate"- women readers should get August "Everylady's Journal" locally, or send 8d in stamps to T. Shaw Fitdiett, 376 Swanston Street, Melbourne.
