SCHOOL MEMENTOS.
A pleasant little ceremony took place at the Foxton school last week in connection with the erection of the fine brick building for the new school. Mr Furrie, the headmaster, got the architect to leave a hole in the wall into which could be built certain mementoes to remind future generations of the present personnel of the school and especially of the proclamation of Peace. The articles consisted of a memorandum signed by the teachers and all the children down to the ultimate infants, and also of personal keepsakes from any of the scholars who wished to be especially remembered. Mr Furrie, who never misses a chance of instilling principles of good citizenship in a practical and concrete manner, intends that each child shall "lay a brick" of the new building.
