HIDES, SKINS, ETC
Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having held their usual sale of hides, etc., on Tuesday last.
Best butchers' hides, ox, stout 12d to 14d; medium, lid to 12d; light, 10_d; cow, best lOd to 103 d, light lOd to lO&d, yearlipgs, lid; calfskins, best 14_d, heavy and meaty to 12d; cut, damaged and dirty hides lOd to 12d.
The above prices are fixed by Government Schedule and at these prices tanners can select what they require before the hides ■ are at auction; the balance can then be offered for export. At Tuesday's sale there was keen competition among exporters for all lines not taken by tanners, and prices were frequently 3d per lb over schedule rates.
