RIFLE SHOOTING.
No. 3 GROUP MEETING
The above meeting was held on the Otaika Rifle Range on April 25th and 26th. The weather conditions were very favourable and the number of entries a record. All arrangements were carried out by the Group Staff, who vyere highly commended by the competitors. Lieut. J. W. Fletcher, District Musketry Instructor, supervised. The meeting was distinctly a success, there being no hitch in any of the arrangements. The shooting was considered good, notably in the Company Duel matches for cadets, territorials and riflemen. Excitement ran high during these two matches, and several of the teams were cheered by other competitors for their splendid marksmanship. The two teams matches were both won by Kaikohe teams, the Kaikohe Rifle Club team winning the Senior Teams match, and the Kaikohe Cadet team (62nd Coy. A.S.C.) winning the Cadet Teams match. The latter match was keenly contested by the Whangarei High School teams (12th Co. A.S.C). The sum of £45 prize money was allotted by the Defence Department, and distributed.
