MOTORING MISHAP.

OCCUPANTS INJURED

HAWERA, Oct 12. A serious accident occurred near the Normanby dairy factor early this morning. It appears that J. Russell, taxi proprietor, was motoring, with a party of nine from Eltham to Hawera after a dance when one of the back tyres blew out, followed by successive blow outs causing the car to overturn. After completing a somersault it righted itself. Fortunately the occupants were thrown clear, but all were injured more or less. Those brought to the Hawera hospital are:—Miss Ada Dunn, right collar bone broken; Miss Marion Dunn, both collar bones broken; Miss Turner, right foot injuries; J. Russell, driver of the car, injuries to the face, but able to be removed home after receiving attention; and Whittaker, mostly head bruises. All the patients are doing well as can be expected. The others, who are at MrsVWalshe's hotel at Normanby, are Miss Madge Dunn, unconscious; Misses Walshe, O'Connor and Tong, all suffering from shock and bruises. Arrangements were to be made to bring Miss Dunn to the hospital, but she was still unconscious this morning. The car was considerably damaged. The hood was down and this saved more serious results.—Press Assn.
