COUNTER-ATTACKS SHATTERED
(Received 10.20 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 27. Sir Douglas Haig reports: "During the past few days the first and sixth ■livisions of the ninth corps under '.ieut.-General Braithwaite captured '•>y hard fighting and at small cost an intricate system of trenches and strong points in the woods and villages north-westward of St. Quentin, nrfsonering fifteen hundred. Enemy counter-attacks were repulsed with -:reat gallantry and determination." A. and N.Z. and Reuter.
