FORMIDABLE POSITION

WELINGTON, Sept. 28. The High Commissioner reports from London at 3 p.m. on the 27th: A French communique says:—Between the Suippe and the Argonne the first formidable German position was penetrated on a 35-mile front to a depth of five kilometres, and even more at certain points. Over 7000 prisoners were taken. The attack was resumed this morning.— High Commissioner Cable.
