HIKURANGI.

Interesting letters were received from "our boys" by the last soldiers' mail. Farrier A. J. Webster refers to the big offensive in April last when the army horses suffered somewhat severely in consequence. He is temporarily attached to the Veterinary Department, assisting to doctor and patch up our dumb allies. Letters received from Private John Lauder, "Somewhere in France," reports all well; and his brother, Private Will Lauder, is engaged at the Base Records Office in London. Private Percy Shaw, of the Ambulance Corps, is due home on Thursday morning. Foreign Misison Services were held in the Methodist Church on Sunday, the preacher being Rev. J. R. Clark, of ?.7hangarei. Gn Monday night the quarterly meeting of the Methodist Church was held and was presided over by Rev. J. R. Clark. The meeting was well attended by the officials. Rev. J. Tyson, owing to continuous ill-health, tendered his resignation. The various church activities were reported satisfactorily. It is expected that a successor to Mr Tyson will be appointed shortly. A farewell social was given by the Presbyterian friends on Tuesday evening to Mr and Mrs Robert Hamilton and family. A large crowd was present and a very enjoyable evening was spent with games and musical items. Mr Kenneth MacBeth, on behalf of the Sunday School, presented Mr Willie Hamilton with a fountain pen, and the younger members of the family received parting gifts. Mr and Mrs Hamilton, who are removing to Drury, will be missed by the many friends they have made in Hikurangi.
