SECOND DIVISION.

DEPUTATION TO PREMIER.

PROVISION FOR DEPENDENTS.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association)

WELLINGTON, July 21

A Second Division Conference deputation interviewed Mr Massey and placed before Kirn the resolutions adopted by the conference.

Mr Massey, in replying, expressed pleasure at hearing assurances of the League's loyalty and willingness to go to the front if occasion arose, though he hardly thought the assurance necessary, believing that New Zealand was sound to the core. The most important point raised by the deputation was as to the treatment of dependents, and it might be taken for 'granted that these would become wards of the State, which would do its duty by them. Tho earliest possible notice would be given the men of the Second Division in tho event of their being called up. Cabinet and Parliament he thought might be trusted to do the proper thing so far as the Second Division was concerned.
